HOW TO WORK WITH JULIA

ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS:

I work in a primarily private practice focused on high performers and elite athletes. My work is rooted in the Classical Pilates Method and targets mobility, stability and strength.

I am not dogmatic in approach – but rather open and flexible to meet the requirements of the person in front of me. Our one-on-one sessions are uniquely tailored to help you achieve your performance goals.

Working with me allows a high performer and athlete to dive deeper into what the body can do and turn limitations into possibilities. Our sessions may be physical and sweaty, but also thoughtful and intelligent. Each session will feel good, be as lively as possible, and meet the needs of making you the best you can be.

Movement is a living practice, and I aim to help you have a significant impact while taking care of your body for life.

Julia is available to work with clients online and in-person.

TEACHERS & STUDIO OWNERS:

I’m available to teach Franklin Method and Embodied Anatomy workshops at your Pilates, yoga or dance studio, at health and wellness clinics, and to professional athletes.

Bringing in experts adds tangible and intangible benefits to your clinic or studio through increased revenue, and continuing education opportunities.

I also mentor other movement coaches and teachers helping to integrate your education into your practice.

Julia is available to mentor teachers & coaches online and in-person.

“No matter the reason, my sessions always got the job done – leaving my body feeling stronger and more physically able. Maybe most importantly, our sessions became a place to move stress through and out of my body so I could perform at my best.”

Functional and Therapeutic Movement Training for Elite Athletes and Professional Performers

What It Is (and What it Isn’t)?

  • One-on-one personalized, targeted and guided movement training on mat and specialized Pilates equipment – it is not a “stretch” class
  • Work that maximizes core strength and stability in tandem with whole body mobility
  • Work that identifies and minimizes any asymmetric exertion or unique areas of over-use in your body as well as sources of wasted energy by “re-wiring” your movement patterns – not one size fits any body
  • Work that identifies and strengthens the whole body including joint capacity and strength – often overlooked in traditional training where the body compensates with and sometimes over-uses muscle groups (because it can)
  • Work that can be a key element in any post-injury program – in its most basic form, classical Pilates is functional rehab aimed at better and sometimes faster return to play with more strength and less likelihood of injury going forward
  • Work that in its longer-term impact can minimize injury and some aspects of post-game or post-performance recurring pain
  • Perhaps most importantly, it teaches a critical skill that is rarely taught to elite athletes or professional performers – how to breathe in movement – Joe Pilates believed breath was the engine of efficient, purposeful and powerful movement – and these days so do more and more pros and elite athletes

"Julia has a true passion for her work and that is abundantly clear when you get to witness (or better yet experience) her coaching."

Julia has been an incredible resource for our clients whether it be as a component of their injury rehabilitation work or as an auxiliary method of training for improving their sport performance.

She is always attentive and has a discerning eye for even the slightest deviations from optimal movement. Most importantly she is able to adapt her methods to accommodate a wide variety of body types and ability levels.

From elite professional athletes to acute post-operative patients, I have no hesitation in referring any client to Julia as I know that they will move and feel better after their time together. I have experienced these same benefits myself as a client! I am very fortunate to have Julia as a member of our team!

"I’ve known Julia Wyncoll for over 30 years and have had the absolute privilege to study under her incredible knowledge, wisdom and care."

I knew Julia was an exceptional teacher, and, as a dancer/choreographer/film director was having some hip issues that was inhibiting my creative works.

Julia not only helped alleviate my pain and movement concerns, but provided me the tools of care, that I am still harnessing today.

Julia, as a former dancer, engages personally in challenging conceptional ideas and continues to pursue excellence in everything she does. Her sensitive approach and clear kinetic understanding of the moving body, gives her an impressive range within her movement knowledge and care clarity.

Julia is incredibly focused and lives and breathes her work as a movement artist, trainer and health care professional.
